Austrian Bundesliga kicks on

After two weeks of international football, the Austrian Bundesliga kicks on.

Leaders SC Rapid are traveling to West Austria to meet Altach. Altach was one of the three Austrian representatives in qualifiers for Uefa Europa league. This euro journey stopped them to progress in Bundesliga. With only 2/7 victories they have six points, two more over last Reid in the drop zone. All eyes will be set on Rapid`s newcomer Matej Jelic, who has to replace striker Robert Beric who left Rapid in direction St.Etiene (France). Victory will heat up the “boys in green“ for upcoming match in Uefa Europa league against Villareal nex week.

Sturm perfect away run was ruined last round when they suffered anexpected lose at Ried. 

Austria one step from France `16

Zlatko Junuzovic was the man of the moment as Austria beat Moldova with 1-0. Win take the Koller`s eleven one point from qualifaying to Euro 2016 in France.

The match, that was played in front of sold-aut (48.500 fans) Ernst Happel stadion in Vienna, was controled by home team. Red and White have a lots of problem finding space in the wall of Moldavian players placed in front of Cebanu.

Brazilian forward Alan was on fire and scored hat trick as Red Bull Salzburg beat Austria Vienna 4-2 at “Generali “ Arena in Vienna.

All started excellent for home team. After 3 minutes Alexander Gorgon opened the scoring, and 20 minutes later it was the other Alexander but Grunwald, who doubled the lead.

At the start of the second half, “Bulls”showed their supremacy. It took only 8 minutes for Alan to overturn 

the score. He took advantage of some poor defending and score three times in 52, 58 I 60 minute. Sabitzer in 68’buried all the hopes for positive result for home team.

Red Bull stay alone on the top of the table with 38 points, 8 more that second place WAC. Austria Vienna dropped to disappointing 7th place in the table,lying 3 points from the places that led to Liga Europa.

Austria – Brazil sold aut in 28 hours

Austrian Football Federation (ÖFB) announced that tickets for friendly match between Austria and Brazil are sold out. All 45000 ticket are sold aut for less then 28 hours.

As a part of Gillete Brasil Global Tour five times World Champions Brasil will play friendly match against Austria in Vienna.  

The match will be played in 18.November 2014 at 19.00 cet at Ernst Hapel Stadion in Vienna.

European experience against European opponetns

After a year with ups and downs Austria`s Vienna midfielder, Australian James Holland today will make his debut with Australian team on World cup against Chile. 

-          - My season was like roller-coaster, full of upsides and downs, but I have to put everything a side and focus on games in Brazil –said Holland.

      Playing with Austria in Champions League for sure was great experience for “Ausie`s” international. -  It was very good international experience, I expect that can help me a lot on matches at World Cup. 

Socceroo’s are underdogs in a group B with defending champs Spain, then “Oranje” und Chile. - Not too many people expect from us to do the miracle. That take off our shoulders the pressure and we can relax and enjoy the experience that bring the World Cup.

      Australia will face the opponent without the player who has Macedonian origins Sasa Ognenovski. Holland had only good words for central defender. -  He is very good guy, very tough but, and was pleasure to play alongside with him. I`m sorry for him that he didn’t make it to the finals.

Australia starts the campaign tonight with match against Chile.

Anything can happened in World Cup

He has scored more than 20 goals for club and country in last season. US international and Rapid forward, Terrence Boyd is satisfied how the season finished. “Vize-Meister” with Rapid, played in Euroleague and makes it to the US 30 man provisional squad fur WC in Brazil. 

 

 

I’m satisfied how i developed, how i played the ball, im running a lot, and i`ve do progress as a strikers, especially the goals from Europa League were big bots for me. 

    In Rapid you have chance to work with Carsten Jancker, and in US team with Jurgen Klinsmam, both war similar player like you?    - That`s a big plus for me, I’m same type of striker as he, true box player. It’s nice to learn for such a great player, He played on big level, he won the Champions league, and you have to listen what he says, it’s obviously that everything he says it’s true. I`ll try to adapt to it.  I`m pleased to work with Jürgen Klinsman who is also striker; I can learn from him a lot. They (Klinsman & Jancker) give great tips and it’s nice to have such a company around you -said Boyd

Germany born, but you decide to play for USA. There`s special moments when US meets the Elf".

-    - It’s crazy, last year I play in an friendly match against  Germany, and all my friends from school, from neighborhood saw me on TV, and said I know this guy, cos everybody watch the German national team, and they see you it was crazy. 

US team meet Germany, Portugal and Ghana. It’s a tough group.

-   - Yea it’s a tough group, but u can complain against that. It’s the World Cup, the best nations play there, if u won’t to be the best, you have to beat the best, and World Cup anything can happen.

Terrence Boyd was included in provisional 30 man Squad, but unfortunately like Donovan didn’t survive the last cut, and won`t be traveling with Klinsman team in Brazil. US team starts the campaing against Ghana on 16 Juni.

Rapid step closer to Liga Europa

Rapid stunned Austria Vienna with narrow 1-0 win in 309. Wiener Derby. The "Derby" that was played in soldaut "Generali Arena" was decided in 66 minute when Sabitzer stroke from close range. Rapid had won three from last four "Derby" matches including "double win" this season in Favoriten.
