Austria Vienna defeated Rosneborg
with narrow 2-1 in the first tie of the Play- Off for the Uefa Europa League.
Everything looked like a perfect “violet” day until the 92` when Reginiussen headed
the cross into the Almer`s back of the net.
After unconvincing first half in
front of 6000 spectators Fink`s side netted two quick goals in the start of the
2nd period to take a huge 2-0 lead. Grünwald stroke from the distance for an explosion
of joy. Two minutes later it was Brazilian Pires who coolly converted a perfect counterattack.
The hosts have managed to keep
the Norwegians at the bay. Larsen cleared from th line, and in the dying minutes efforts from Gutkyaer and
Helland didn’t hit the target. But it was the Rosenborg`s defender Reginiussen
who scored an important away goal that lives the tie wide open.
- - We are pleased with the victory, we are going to
play for a win also in Trondheim – said Austria`s Vienna manager Torsten Fink.
The 2nd tie will be
played next Thursday at Trondheim.
